And if the military is interested in something, you can be fairly certain that there's something to it. In other words, even the US Army is interested in optimizing caffeine consumption for maximum performance. Which is all a very fancy way of saying that they were looking at when and how much to dose with caffeine to stay optimally awake and alert. Using a mathematical model and a computationally efficient optimization algorithm, the study claimed to determine when and how much caffeine to consume to safely maximize alertness during sleep loss. In 2018, a study published in the American Academy of Sleep Medicine proposed an optimization algorithm for caffeine dosage to maximize alertness under any sleep-loss condition. Overall, it’s fine if you need a job to get by but full time work is hard and a lot expected of you for minimum wage. If you need a part time job just to get by it’s fine but would not recommend full time work. Some days it’s too busy and understaffed you cannot take a break and work 9/10 hours without stopping. Some days you work 10 hour shifts and only get 30 minutes break at MOST. The hours are fine, very early mornings but closes at 5. Management is unorganized and there is no help from higher management from what I can see. The work itself is hard and tiring and can get very stressful when busy while you are expected to keep everything clean. A lot of responsibilities are placed on workers that aren’t supervisors or managers, no extra pay for doing more work. Rosters are changed frequently without being asked, leaving you unable to make plans and appointments in case you’re made work. You are left alone to deal with this while serving customers and making coffee and cleaning and expected to cover shifts without being asked beforehand if this suits you. We hired another staff member for our busy season and they are unreliable and not showing up for shifts. They didn’t call me at all and wouldn’t tell me when I could get my job back. Didn’t work for 5 months due to Covid even though the cafe was open.

Started off early 2020 it was great, nice hours and staff really nice.
